Bhumthang
Bhumthang, a spectacular Bhutanese valley, is the largest valley in the country. Popular sites in Bhumthang include the Kurje Lhakhang, the resting place of deceased kings of Bhutan; the Jambe and Tamshing Lhakhangs, two of the oldest temples dating to the 7th century; the Jakar Dzong, the Dzong fabled to have been founded by a white bird. Bhumthang markets offer the unique speciality of the region such as rich woollen textiles dyed with natural colours and ‘Yatas’, a thin woollen cloth with bright patterns often made into warm jackets and scarves.
