Paro
Paro, the beautiful Bhutanese valley, encapsulates within itself a rich culture, scenic beauty and hundreds of myths and legends. The most historic city of Bhutan, Paro is popular for its Paro Dzong, also known as Rinpung Dzong, meaning “fortress sitting on a heap of jewels”, a fine example of Bhutanese architecture. Paro is also home to Taktshang monastery, popularly called the Tiger’s Nest, one of the most popular spiritual heritage sites, perched precariously on the rock face of a sheer cliff 2950m above the ground.
