Upon your arrival in Paro, you will be met by our representative at the airport. After a warm welcome you will be escorted to your hotel. 

After lunch, visit the National Museum and Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Enjoy evening tea at a local farmhouse.

This morning, hike to Taktsang, popularly known as Tigers Nest Monastery. En-route, stops for lunch at a local cafeteria, run by monks and located halfway up the trail overlooking ‘Tigers Nest’.

After lunch, we drive up the valley to Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1647 by the Shabdrung to commemorate the Bhutanese victory over the Tibetans in the war of 1644. Also visit the temple of Kyichu Lhakhang, built in the 7th century by the Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, the erstwhile winter capital of Bhutan.

En-route view Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in the Kingdom and drive through Dochu-la pass (3140m). This afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong dating back to the 17th Century and the newly built Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten.

After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Trongsa.

This afternoon, drive into Gangtey valley. Visit the nearby Phobjikha village, the winter home of the black necked cranes that migrate from the northern arid plains. Later, drive through Pele-la pass (3420m) to arrive at Trongsa. Enjoy an evening at leisure in Trongsa.

This morning visit Trongsa Dzong, built in 1647 by the Shabdrung; this is one of the most impressive dzong in Bhutan.

Then drive to Jakar valley (Bumthang), a spectacular Bhutanese valley and the holy heartland of Buddhism. En-route drive through Yutong-la pass (3400 m) and dense forests to arrive at Bhumtang. Enjoy an evening at leisure in Bhumtang.

Jakar valley or Bumthang is the name given to a group of four valleys – Chumey, Choekhor, Tang and Ura, with altitudes varying from 2600 to 4000m.

Today, visit Kurje Lhakhang, one of the most sacred places in the kingdom. Then visit Jambey Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang, to view some of the oldest wall paintings in Bhutan. Also visit Jakar Dzong. This evening, take a stroll through Bumthang’s market area observing the local lifestyle of Bhutanese people.

After an early breakfast, embark on your return drive towards western Bhutan, stopping at mountain villages and towns for tea, coffee and lunch.

Later in the afternoon, arrive at the beautiful town of Wangdue (Wangdiphodrang). Take a brief stop and visit the Wangdiphodrang Dzong and local market. Then, continue your drive to Thimphu. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.

Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, is home to Bhutan's royal family, government offices, and various foreign missions. It is also the headquarters for a number of internationally funded development projects in Bhutan.

Today, enjoy discovering the serene and beautiful city of Thimphu, visiting the Folk Heritage and National Textile Museum. Also visit the government-run handicrafts emporium and privately owned crafts shops, which offer a wide range of handcrafted products, including the splendid Thangkas paintings and exquisitely woven textiles for which Bhutan is famous.

After lunch, visit the National Library and the National Institute of traditional medicine (from outside). Later in the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong, the beautiful medieval fortress which houses most of the Government offices and the King’s throne room.
