Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive
Delhi
Tonight,
arrive New Delhi, the capital city of India. Upon your arrival, you will be met
by ourrepresentative at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. After a warm
welcome, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2
Fly Delhi-Kullu / Drive to Manali (40 Kms)
Today morning, you will be transferred to the
airport to catch your flight for Manali.
Upon arrival at Kullu airport, you will be
driven to Manali.
On reaching Manali, check-in to the hotel and
relax till afternoon. Have your lunch and meet with your motorbikes and have
test rides to make yourself comfortable with the new machines. Further, a
detailed session about the bike and biking skills is organized. You then leave
for a short tour to the Kullu Valley and get acquainted with the mechanics of
the bike. There are tricky bends and stretches on the road which will help you
know the torque characteristics of the bike. Enjoy the ride to the beautiful Kullu
Valley. Later, come back to the hotel and have a comfortable stay.
Day 3
Manali to
Jispa Via Rohtang Pass (150 KMS)
Today after early
morning breakfast leave for a day full of adventure. So, you start the day with
Rohtang Pass (13,052 ft). This would really turn out to be a challenge as the
roads you will bike through are really bad and the weather conditions are also
uncertain. Even the name, Ruh-tang says, soul-tortured. ) After crossing some
villages like Bahang, Kulang, Palchan and Kothi by riding along the riverside
(river Beas). Then come Gramphu, Koksar, Tandi and Keylong. Upon reaching
Keylong(Jispa) Enjoy mountain dinner of steamed momos and thukpa. Thukpa is a
very famous traditional Himalayan soup which is made by mixing meat and
vegetables. Overnight at Hotel/Camps in Jispa.
Day 4
Jispa to Pang via Baralacha Pass (155 KMS)
Today, you will be leaving for the next
destination, Pang. This is a 150 Kms journey via Baralacha-la (16,050 ft) after
crossing Darcha, Zingzing bar and beautiful mountains covered with snow and
centuries old glaciers. The journey will take you to the first phase of Ladakh,
the surreal land of immense and enchantingly cragged mountains. Enjoy the view
and later cross the Baralachha Pass & head towards Sarchu which forms the
border line between Kashmir and Himachal. After reaching Pang relax for the
rest of day and keep it high on fluids. Overnight stay at Camps in Pang.
Day 5
Pang via
Tanglang Pass (174 KMS)
Today after breakfast, you leave for Leh. The 4th day
comes with a lot of challenges as you will have to bike through flatlands and
get into the mountain-range-horizon En route Leh, you cross Tanglang-La (17,388
ft), which is the second highest motorable pass in the world. After crossing
this pass, you will have to bike through well-maintained roads all the way to
Leh .While on this amazing road trip, you come across sparkling monasteries and
monks in red attires. By late afternoon, you reach Leh. On arrival check into
hotel. Spend evening chilling out at the place. Explore the culture and
geography of Ladakh in the next few days. Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.
Day 6
Leh
Local Sightseeing (ACCLIMATIZATION DAY)
Today
after breakfast, spend the whole day to get acclimatized to the thin air,
followed by an entire day at leisure in the capital city of Leh. Leh has
gracefully meld Muslim and Buddhist culture; the town is flecked with
Monasteries and Mosques. There are many eating joints at the central street
which serve a wide variety of cuisines. This day, explore Leh on foot and visit
the Old Fort which looks over the city. During the day, your bike is pampered
and groomed at the service station; getting all minor flaws flicked away. This
day is indeed intended to fuel you with intense energy and enthusiasm, for
something the next day has in its bag for you. Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.
Day 7
Leh to Nubra via Khardulg La (116 KMS)
Today after breakfast and checking our bikes and gear, we
start our drive towards the world’s highest motor-able road- Khardungla Pass.
The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (The Highest
Motorable road in the world) AT 5,602 M / 18,390 FT, around 39 km from Leh.
From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly
endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the
Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of
flowers. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level. Upon
arrival in Nubra check into Camp. In the evening, walk around the tiny villages
to see how the locals live in this part of the world. Overnight stay at the
Camp in Nubra.
Day 8
Nubra to Leh via Diskit (116 KMS)
Today after breakfast drive to Diskit. Diskit
is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on
a hilltop, facing the entire Valley. Later drive back to Leh in the late
afternoon via Khardungla Top. On arrival at Leh check in Hotel. In the
afternoon you can rest and relax. In the evening you can stroll around the
market place for some last minute souvenir shopping. Dinner and overnight stay
at the hotel in Leh.
Day 9
Leh to
Pangong Lake via Shey Thiksey (225 KMS)
Today after breakfast drive to Pangong lake (world’s
highest salt lake) visiting, Shey Palace complex are structures located on a
hillock in Shey, 15 kilometers to the south of Leh in Ladakh. Shey was the
summer capital of Ladakh in the past & later visit Thiksey monastery, the
twelve storied monastery of Thiksey is situated in the most prominent of
positions, lies on an island Mountain. Arrive at Pangong in camp & leisure
at Pangong Lake. Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 ft, is bisected by the international
border between India and China. Overnight stay at camp in Pangong.
Day 10
Pangong to
Leh via Sindhu Ghat (225 KMS)
After breakfast we do a complete gear check and drive
back to Leh via visiting Sindhu Ghat . This will be the last day at Leh, so
explore Leh the whole day. Shop at bazaars and visit the Shanti Stupa which is
a Buddhist white-dome huge structure which overlooks Changspa. Enjoy a great
view of the Indus Valley and the Zanskar range and go colder to nature.
Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.
Day 11
Leh to Sarchu (260 KMS)
After breakfast it’s time now, to turn the back around,
and head towards home. This day, you will get back to the biking track through
which you reached Leh. En-route you will cross Taglang la (17,480 ft), world’s
second highest motorable pass. Overnight stay at camp in Sarchu.
Day 12
Sarchu to
Manali (230 KMS)
This is the final leg of our ritual road trip. We start
our day early and our ride from Sarchu to Manali. The route is slightly rough,
so this day we shall try and cover the maximum distance with minimum stopovers.
Enjoy a smooth ride up the Lahaul ranges and reach Rohtang pass. Rohtang pass
will come with a number of challenges with mini-rivers of mud. This herculean
trip is the last phase of the journey. And by late evening you reach Manali.
You finally kick-off all the exhaustion of this winsome journey and have a
sound sleep. Overnight stay at hotel in Manali.
Day 13
Drive
Manali-Kullu / Fly Delhi + Departure
Today morning, you will be transferred to Kullu airport
to board flight to Delhi.
Upon arrival at Delhi airport, connect your onward /
return flight.
